Testimony of Marlin L. Hornberger

During early November 1994-after my sixth hospitalization related to mental health issues-I promised God that I would spend an hour a day pondering His Word as recorded in the Bible. As I made this promise to God, I openly stated to Him that I had no idea where this committment would lead; however, people of faith throughout history have committed this much time to prayer and Bible study-as a minimum. (I also asked Jesus to be my teacher because my attention span and comprehension had been greatly reduced from my college days). Actually I have not revealed this request until recently because I feared that if my ability to discuss God's Word and worship in sincerity and truth did not reflect the true character of God I would be an embarrassment to God. Since that time, I have submitted my life to serving God. No I have not become an ordained pastor or a well educated evangelist; however, I have experienced the Peace that comes only through the Holy Spirit. I have experienced God's provision and protection in miraculous ways. Through a series of events over the next 7 years, I learned that the answer to life's problems could not be found through any human counselor no matter how competent or caring or truly compassionate they were. The answer was not in any therapeutic technique-not even a well orchestrated list of Scriptures. The answer is a person: Jesus Christ-the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. Jesus Christ is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. He truly listens to everyone who comes to Him with sincere confession of their sin with a request that Jesus Christ help them return to obedience to the Father. When God through the mediation of Jesus Christ forgives the sins of a truly repentant person those sins are thrown as far as the east is from the west. Jesus Christ truly wants each and every person's friendship! Do you want a friend who sticks closer than a brother/sister? If you do, turn to Jesus Christ who has access to God at all times(!!!)!
