Winona Schweikart (Winnie)-
Prayer and Visitation Director
Winona L. Schweikart (Winnie) and her Sweetie, Bill, have been married for 39 years. They received New Life in Christ 30 years ago and have served in ministry together, as the Lord has led them, ever since. They have two grown daughters Melissa and Kabrina, two son-in-laws, John and Douglas and a 14 year old granddaughter Chloe (Melissa and John) that keeps them smiling for sure!
In 30 years of actively serving, I have been anticipating and excited for God’s plan for a specific ministry area which I believe He is now making clear to me. In our 10 years of service at Crossroads, Bill and I have served the Lord in leading a 12 Step, Christ Centered Recovery Program and have served as loving prayer support in a variety of other ministries as well. Within the 7 years of the recovery ministry and then 2 ½ years as a church thrift store employee, I have had the blessed opportunity to continually encounter folks where they are and recognize their need. I believe God has shown me more and more that many, including myself, are in great need of developing a more meaningful, impact-full, and sincerely Holy Spirit-filled prayer life. With that, I have accepted a volunteer staff position as the Prayer and Visitation Director at Crossroads Nazarene Church. James 5:13-16 is the prayer passage that speaks God’s truth of the importance of His people to be in fervent prayer and one I share often with others needing to know the power of God unleashed from Heaven!
“ Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:13-16 (NKJV)
